Our own growth story: PVG became a team in 2021

When we started Purpose Venture Group last year, we set out to advise entrepreneurs with solutions to the climate crisis or economic inequality on how to successfully scale their businesses, including helping them grow their teams. In 2021, we not only did that for our clients, but we are thrilled and proud to say we also did that for PVG.

We were joined by three incredible talents this year, all of whom build on our cross-cutting approach and the diverse set of experiences we believe are the engine of the advisory and incubation services PVG can provide. Neel, Tammy and Matt won’t be our last hires, but they made us into a team in 2021 and will lay a foundation for our growth and success for years to come.

Neel joined PVG this year as a Senior Finance Associate. Neel has already made an incredible impact for our clients, bringing his background as an investment and finance professional to each engagement team he has joined. Prior to PVG, Neel worked in private equity at AIMPERA Capital Partners, where he drove all stages of the investment process from thesis development, execution of the sourcing-to-investment pipeline and portfolio management. He began his career in the financial restructuring group at Houlihan Lokey where he focused on distressed M&A and special situations for middle-market debtors and creditors across the energy sector. Neel’s passion is contagious, and he enjoys an active lifestyle, fully enjoying all four seasons of outdoor life in the Yampa Valley of Steamboat Springs, Colorado where he lives.

Tammy joined the PVG family in 2021 as our Operations Manager. Tammy’s 15+ years of operations management and executive support have led to stronger decision-making and infrastructure for our young organization. Prior to PVG, Tammy has brought her same relationship-oriented and inclusive approach to growth equity firm Updata Partners, as well as hedge fund Discovery Capital Management and insurance provider Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. One of the things she is proudest of is Tammy’s role as a military spouse, supporting her husband while he is Active Duty and volunteering to provide families with support, communications, and unity. She is also a mother of three and is involved in the Girl Scouts of America organization, having previously led a Daisy Troop and currently leading a Junior Troop. Tammy lives in the Southeast with her family.

Finally, Matt joined PVG this year as Vice President. Motivated by the scale of the threat and opportunity presented by climate change, as well as the excitement we share in building this firm, he is already leading client engagements and helping us build a positive and fun culture.  Matt has brought more than a decade of leadership experience in the private sector, public sector and on political campaigns to PVG. Most recently, he served as a Manager at Bain & Company, where he helped lead teams building strategies for Fortune 500 clients across sectors, primarily energy and aerospace. During the Obama Administration, he held three political appointments: Deputy Chief of Staff of the Export-Import Bank (EXIM), Senior Communications Advisor at EXIM and Spokesperson at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Finally, before and after his time in government, he worked on solutions to the climate crisis at Renovate America and in the sustainability practice of the Glover Park Group. Matt lives in Washington, DC with his fiancé Lawrence and their dog Bondi. They love to travel, dive, ski, play tennis and probably eat out too often on H Street.
